Workshop 2, An introduction to Digital Imaging.

A: OVERVIEW AND CONTEXT:

Digital Imaging is everywhere, forming the basis of the worldwide publishing and trans-media industry. From glossy magazines to internet sites, to your own mobile phone interface, digital imaging is ever present. All these things must be designed graphically and ideas must be turned into a digital reality. Whether you are simply trying to get together an advert for the local paper or forging a dynamic web-presence, basic digital imaging skills are invaluable to you and your business.

B: THE WORKSHOP:

Made by Adobe, Photoshop is the industry leading graphics package. It is an invaluable tool for print and web work and has excellent image editing and adjustment tools, effects filters and text editing options. Photoshop has an amazing array of features but it is not difficult to learn the basics and begin to produce professional looking work.

Focussing on Photoshop as a tool, this workshop will provide an introduction to the basics of digital imaging, image manipulation and creation, building creative and technical skills. This course will be taught at two levels; Beginner and Intermediate.

These workshops are oriented around individual needs and design requirements. The workshops are focused on solving production problems and participants may therefore like to bring their own material to work with. Advice will be given concerning the application of the skills learnt on the workshop to individual professional practice.
